On the occasion of the celebration of World COPD Day, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, the Lovexair Foundation participated in the "Vive con Aire" campaign with the aim of raising awareness among the population about a disease that affects more than 2 million Spaniards. This pathology, which affects the respiratory system, is the fourth cause of death in Spain and its main cause is tobacco use. COPD is characterized by the difficulty for air to pass through the bronchi and, although it mainly affects the lungs, it is also related to other diseases such as high blood pressure, diabetes and heart failure.

With the aim of making the population aware of this disease, the Lovexair Foundation, Novartis and the Association of Pulmonologists of the South launched the "Live with Aire" campaign to make the public aware of this pathology. The event held in Seville consisted of several actions. On the one hand, the attendees were able to learn about the advantages of the Happyair project, promoted by the Lovexair Foundation, a program that offers a personalized care plan directed at the patient and that consists of educational sessions, respiratory rehabilitation and training. In turn, this program has the presence of physiotherapists trained in Pulmonary Health. The participants carry out workshops on the correct use of the inhaler, respiratory rehabilitation sessions, screening tests and physical activities, all of them guided by health professionals. The purpose of this initiative is to provide solutions to the patient, in addition to promoting an active and healthy life.

During the presentation of this campaign, Shane Fitch, president of the Lovexair Foundation, highlighted that "Prevention is an essential strategy to avoid the development of diseases." In these cases, medical tests are crucial to establish a diagnosis on time. In the case of COPD, Shane Fitch pointed out: “it is a disease that reduces people's mobility and consequently affects the patient's quality of life. Tiredness, fatigue, anxiety or depression are some of the most worrying symptoms”.

Lastly, the attendees who participated in the “Live with Air” campaign carried out actions related to air through virtual experiences and also had the opportunity to undergo spirometry to find out the health of their lungs.
