A campaign to transform asthma care in Colombia

The Lovexair Foundation and the Heart and Lung Foundation join forces in a campaign for asthma assessment, education, and clinical care.

Colombia – March 2026

What began as a one-off initiative has become a model with the real capacity to transform asthma care in Colombia.

The Lovexair Foundation, together with the Lung and Heart Foundation, has developed a three-day campaign in different territories of the country that demonstrates that integrating assessment, education and clinical care in the same circuit is not only possible, but necessary.

With the recent celebration of its third day in Popayán, this respiratory route closes a first cycle with clear results: early detection, better control of the disease and more empowered patients.

Three days, one breathing route

Far from being isolated events, these conferences are part of a progressive strategy that has been validating the model in different contexts.

Stage 1 — Bogotá (2023): The starting point

In September 2023, the Respiratory Pathway program began at the Fundasuvicol IPS (Bogotá), with 72 participants. The data was conclusive:

  • One third of the participants had asthma
  • 72% showed alterations in lung function
  • Many were unaware of his condition.

This first step confirmed an urgent need: to improve the detection and monitoring of asthma in the population.

Stage 2 — San Gil / Popayán (2024): Validate in real context

In February 2024, the project reached the IPS CRI Integrales, with 116 participants. The results reinforced the initial diagnosis:

  • 73% with asthma, mostly poorly controlled
  • 69% with elevated FeNO (active bronchial inflammation)

At this stage, there was a qualitative leap: the healthcare provider decided to incorporate its own FeNO team and activate a permanent protocol. In this way, the model became permanently established.

Stage 3 — Popayán (2026): Consolidate the model

In March 2026, the Lung and Heart Foundation hosted the third conference in a complex environment, with logistical challenges and operational limitations. Even so, the results remain clear:

  • 100% of the 70 participants had a diagnosis of asthma
  • 47% presented with bronchial inflammation (FeNO)
  • Comprehensive evaluations, workshops, and pulmonology consultations were conducted.

This third stage confirms that the The model is viable, adaptable, and replicable even in demanding contexts.

This is how the model works: assess, educate, and act

During the Popayán session, the participants followed a comprehensive circuit designed to operate in real time:

  • Initial assessment with CheckAir to map symptoms and risks
  • Bronchial inflammation measurement (FeNO)
  • Asthma control review
  • Immediate consultation with a pulmonologist
  • Four educational workshops on asthma management

The result is a comprehensive approach that connects technology, clinical practice, and education into a single experience, enabling:

  • Detect uncontrolled respiratory disease
  • Improve adherence and self-care
  • Translating clinical information into immediate decisions
  • Generate real evidence useful for public health

One key fact sums it up: 48% of patients evaluated with FeNO presented active inflammationand were able to adjust their treatment on the same day.

A model ready to scale

The initiative was led by pulmonologists Dr. Julia Chamorro and Dr. María Chamorro, along with their clinical team, with a clear focus: patient-centered care. From Lovexair, therapists Daniela Castañeda and Claudia Jiménez supported the entire process, both offline and online, ensuring quality and personalized attention. Furthermore, the support of Yerlines Peña (GBarco) enabled the incorporation of FeNO measurements, a key component in asthma assessment.

With 258 people evaluated over three days, the campaign demonstrates that:

  • Integrating CheckAir + clinical trials + education works
  • Detects invisible needs in the real population
  • It generates useful evidence for healthcare decisions
  • It empowers the patient and improves their quality of life

It's not just an intervention. It's a model ready to be replicated..
