Sanidad #PorelClima and Lovexair collaborate to integrate respiratory health and environmental sustainability.
The Lovexair Foundation and Health #ForTheClimate announce a collaboration aimed at accelerating climate action in the health sector, focusing on one of today's greatest challenges: the impact of air pollution on human health.
Health #ForTheClimate It is an initiative of ECODES, within the framework of the #PorElClima Community, which seeks to mobilize the healthcare sector in Spain to take action against climate change and achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
The initiative offers practical tools such as ScopeCO2 -recognized by the Ministry of Health as the official carbon footprint calculator for hospitals- and tailored resources for healthcare centers to identify, reduce, and communicate their emissions, promoting actions that simultaneously improve the health of people and the planet.
The initiative strengthens the role of the health sector as a leader in sustainability, in line with the international commitments of the Glasgow Health Programme and the WHO's ATACH Alliance.
Lung health assessment
For its part, the Lovexair Foundation adds its global campaign “Global Campaign” and its online tool Check@ir to the actions promoted by the Ministry of Health #ForTheClimate to highlight the impact of pollution, along with other risk factors, on citizens' respiratory health.
The campaign invites citizens, whether or not they have a previous diagnosis, to evaluate their lung health through Check@ir, a simple online form. Upon submission, they receive a personalized report and an educational guide to protect their health from risk factors and pollutants.
Checkair results are recorded, anonymously, in the first Global Respiratory Health Map, which will provide statistics on the incidence of pathologies, causes, and symptoms to facilitate researchers, healthcare centers, and public agencies in making preventive decisions at local, regional, and global levels.
Impact on the health sector
The alliance between both organizations seeks to integrate climate action with the promotion of respiratory health., recognizing that air pollution is a critical factor in diseases such as asthma and COPD. Through their tools and resources, both organizations will contribute to solutions in both clinical care and public awareness.
"Breathing clean air is a right and an imperative for global well-being. This partnership demonstrates how collaboration between organizations focused on health and climate can generate greater impact on public policy and people's daily lives.“,” says Shane Fitch, president of Lovexair.
