Precautions

General precautions to be taken are:

1. There will be no smoking in the same room where the device is located, whether or not the patient is
2. The device should not be placed near sources of heat as oxygen may be flammable.
3. The room in which the device is placed should be frequently aired
4. The position in which the equipment must be transported is vertical.
5. In the presence of oxygen, do not use aerosols, solvents or fatty products.
6. The size of the extension cords that connect the nasal goggles must not exceed 17 meters and must not have joints. To move around the home, these accessories must be available, trying not to move the oxygen source, except the concentrators.
7. The supply companies must frequently check the equipment
8. The flow prescribed by the doctor should never be modified.
9. Devices and accessories must be kept in good condition and will be replaced whenever necessary.
10. Nostrils should be clean and nasal erosions avoided

Maintenance

To keep equipment in good condition, you must:

1. Wash the masks, nose goggles and extension tubes daily with water and neutral soap, taking special care to properly rinse and dry them. They should never be dried with heat, nor directly in the sun, they should be left to dry in the air.
2. The humidifier should be washed daily. To do this, the assembly is unscrewed and the lid and glass are placed in warm soapy water. Rinse well and let it drain in the air. It is then filled with distilled water and put back in place.
3. The humidifier should be disinfected once a week. Put it in a solution made up of two parts water and one part vinegar.
4. Once a month it will be checked that there are no leaks in the extensions, for this they will be introduced into a container with water while being connected to oxygen. If bubbles come out, there is a leak.
