Lovexair arrives at the WHO World Congress

WHO invites Lovexair Foundation to lead a panel of experts on air quality and health at a historic congress

Cartagena de Indias, Colombia, will be the epicenter of the global debate on air quality and human health. 25 al 27 March 2025. In this high-level scenario, the Lovexair Foundation will play a key role, joining governments, experts and civil society to promote urgent solutions to air pollution.

This is the first time that Lovexair has been invited to actively participate in a forum of this magnitude, reaffirming its commitment to the fight for clean and healthy air for all.

A key meeting for global action

The congress, organised by the World Health Organisation (WHO), will bring together Ministries of Health, Environment and Energy, development agencies, health professionals, local authorities and civil organisations. The goal: to consolidate evidence-based multi-sectoral strategies to reduce air pollution and mitigate its devastating effects on public health.

Lovexair, a catalyst for change

Within the framework of this Congress, the Lovexair Foundation will play a fundamental role as a promoter of public debate. The WHO has provided the Foundation with a special auditorium for the screening of the documentary Breathe Mom, an audiovisual piece that illustrates the impact of air pollution on the health of families and the urgent need to act.

The screening will be followed by a panel of experts, with the participation of the film's director, Meri Collazos, the Lovexair Foundation, and civil representatives of the fight against pollution, to open the public debate before more than 1200 people.

Through this event, Lovexair seeks to raise awareness and mobilize public opinion, generating a call to action that involves citizens, institutions and governments.

Air pollution: a threat that cannot wait

The evidence is overwhelming: air pollution, both ambient and domestic, is one of the greatest threats to global health. It is estimated that it causes 7 million premature deaths each year due to respiratory, cardiovascular, lung diseases and cancer. Furthermore, its impact goes beyond the physical: it is linked to problems such as low birth weight, cognitive impairment, diabetes and mental health problems.

Breathing clean air: a human right

Lovexair's stance is in line with the recent ruling by the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR), which states that government inaction on air pollution constitutes a violation of the right to life. This historic decision reinforces the message that Lovexair and other organisations have been defending: access to clean air must be a guaranteed right for all people.

A call to global action

The 2nd Global Conference on Air Pollution and Health will be a turning point in the fight against this global crisis. Ministers, mayors and world leaders will meet to assess the current situation and define concrete strategies. Lovexair, together with health workers, patient groups and civil organisations, will support the WHO call for urgent and effective measures from governments.

This congress is an opportunity to transform knowledge into action and Lovexair will be there, making sure that the voice of civil society is heard. Because breathing clean air is not a privilege, it is a right. And it is time to defend it.
