The Lovexair Foundation participates in Madrid Respira 2025
Airdragon, Airman, and lung assessments to better understand respiratory health
La Outdoor air pollution caused more than 4 million premature deaths In 2019, more than 3 million COPD deaths were partially attributed to exposure to air pollutants, mainly due to heart and respiratory diseases, and in 2021, more than 3 million COPD deaths were partially attributed to exposure to air pollutants. These are data from the World Health Organization (WHO), which insists each year that Almost the entire population lives in places where air quality guidelines are not met..
In view of these figures, it seems clear that lung health is not just a hospital issue, it is also a urban issue, of squares, schools and streets.

Why Madrid Breathes
For this reason, Lovexair launched the 2025 campaign in March Clean Air Healthy Living to translate evidence into social and health measures that protect lung health. Participate in local initiatives such as Madrid Breathes It is precisely to transfer that purpose from paper to the square: to measure, inform and empower citizens to protect their lungs.
Madrid Breathes It will be held on October 4th in the Buen Retiro Gardens. (11:00–14:00 and 16:00–19:00), This is a fun, family and educational day aimed at raising awareness about the importance of taking care of lung health and demanding cleaner air.
The event, organized by the Neumomadrid Foundation and Madrid City Council, will feature themed stalls and booths with lung health assessments, workshops, children's activities, and information areas on smoking, pollution, and healthy living.

The Foundation's proposal
Lovexair will be present at the event with several stands featuring practical and educational activities designed to provide citizens with concrete tools for caring for their lungs:
- “Breathe Yourself” Stop
People who undergo spirometry during the event will be able to complete the online questionnaire. CheckAir. Through it, you can learn about the status of your lung health and what factors could be influencing it, including air quality. After completing the form, you will receive a individualized report with their results that they can share directly with their doctor, in addition to a health guide to protect your lungs from pollution. The answers will fuel the Global Respiratory Health Map, which we are building with all the participants to generate an evidence base that serves as an argument for the adoption of stricter social and health measures to control air pollution in cities with high levels of pollution, such as Madrid.
- “Explorers” Stop
Workshop for families and children with the figure of air man and his pet airdragon (a dragon with asthma) who playfully explain how to fight three enemies: pollution, viruses/bacteria, and tobacco. There will also be a crafts workshop for children to create their own Airdragon.
- “Active Life” Stop:
Workshop for the public on diaphragmatic breathing for emotional control and management of respiratory crises.
“In cities like Madrid, where air quality continues to exceed safe limits, pollution leaves its mark on every breath: increasing exacerbations, accelerating lung deterioration, and burdening families and healthcare systems. We can't normalize the risk of breathing; we need to measure, report, and act now to protect those who need it most.” — Shane Fitch, CEO of the Lovexair Foundation.
The day will include sections on sleep hygiene and exercise, musical activities, child and family awareness areas, and the "Oxineta" mobile unit, a clinic with demonstrations of respiratory support devices.
Sponsors and collaborators include institutions such as the Jiménez Díaz Foundation, GSK, Oximesa, the Real Madrid Foundation, and a wide range of patient associations.
