On the occasion of World COPD Day (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease), this past November 19 a conference was held at Hospital 12 de Octubre, in which nearly fifty spirometry tests were carried out, the diagnostic test preferably for early detection of this pathology.

It should be noted that of the total spirometry performed, seven patients have been detected, whose test results have been confirmed as suspects or candidates for COPD, for which they have been referred to their family doctor to take make a correct assessment.

One of the most relevant data among this group of people with signs of COPD is that practically all of them were smokers or have smoked throughout their lives, the male quota being higher.

At the same time, an information campaign has been carried out for users and companions who were passing through on October 12, who have shown great interest in seeing the infographic of the Lovexair Foundation, on a specific affectation, sleep apnea, although they have also inquired about different respiratory diseases.

The pulmonologists in charge of doing the spirometry have confirmed that there is great concern about these issues. From now on, the Lovexair Foundation will undertake a process of evaluating the demand for sleep apnea, in order to offer valuable information and education for early diagnosis to society in general.

This conference has had the collaboration of the Alfa 1 Association, the Association of COPD and Sleep Apnea Patients (Apeas), the National Federation of Associations of Respiratory Patients (Fenaer), the Lovexair Foundation and GSK.
