The correct use of masks

From May 21, the use of a mask is mandatory as long as the minimum safety distance cannot be guaranteed. It will also be in the return to "normal" once the de-escalation is over.

During these days many doubts have arisen regarding the correct use of masks. At Lovexair and within our social support program carried out by the #CONCIENCIA Line (thanks to the support of Boehringer Ingelheim Spain) Boehringer wants to contribute our informed grain of sand based on what the scientific evidence tells us.

What type of mask is right for me?

The Ministry of Health advises the use of some masks or others depending on the circumstances. For example, it proposes the use of hygienic masks for healthy people. These can be single-use or reusable, so you have to see the recommendations for use given by the manufacturers and they could not be used for more than 4 hours in a row.

Surgical masks will be used by infected people, whether or not they have symptoms. They will be used for less than 4 hours and will have to be replaced if they get wet or deteriorate. They serve to protect others as they filter the air we expel when we breathe.

Vulnerable people, as is the case with patients with respiratory disease, will always have to go outside with an FFP2 type PPE mask without an exhalation valve, according to recommendations from SEPAR and the Ministry. These masks prevent the entry of polluting particles into our body, which is why they are used by health professionals.

How do I put it on?

Before putting it on we have to make sure our hands are clean.

Only the rubber bands of the mask will be touched, at no time can the inside or outside of it be touched.

It will be positioned so that it covers your nose, mouth, and chin.

We will put the rubber behind the ears.

It fits well to the nose by pinching the nose clip that the masks have and we make sure that there are no spaces between it and our face.

while I'm wearing it

We will avoid touching it and if we do we have to wash our hands before and after.

How do I remove it?

Before removing it, we wash our hands again.

We remove it by touching only the rubber bands of the ears.

We wash it if it is reusable, following the manufacturer's instructions, or we throw it away by putting it in a tied garbage bag.

We wash our hands again after its removal.

If you want to know how to use the masks or which one is right for you, ask our Line of Conscience coaches. You can do it through the different channels that we have enabled for it.
