International Women's Day 2018
On this important day for women, we want to collect messages to applaud not only her figure as an essential member of society in the professional field, as a mother and a key figure in development.
At Lovexair we support and invite you to participate in all the activities and celebrate International Women's Day so that together we can achieve not only equal pay but also equal rights and duties in all areas of society between both sexes and the importance of seeking solutions to better reconcile professional and family life in a shared way with your spouse. Also highlight the vital role that women tend to assume as caregivers of patients with chronic pathologies that they must reconcile with all their other daily obligations.
On this important day for women, we want to collect testimonies and messages to applaud not only her figure as an essential member of society in the professional and family spheres and as a key figure in global development, but also as a patient of respiratory diseases and more frequently as a caregivers:
Yolanda Fernandez,
member of the Lovexair Foundation Advisory Group, patient with Interstitial Lung Disease and Professor.
“Today women's day; a very special day to keep in mind that we are unique, that throughout life we have always been present at all times and essential for everything. Faced with a chronic and degenerative lung disease that will end with a lung transplant; we are very fighters and you have to face it alone without anyone else to be able to overcome it and move forward. Therefore, we ourselves can. Go girls!!!!!”
Elena Serrano,
member of the Lovexair Foundation Advisory Group, and caregiver of patients with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis.
“In my case, what I have seen is that women are, in the vast majority of cases, the caregivers of the patients, especially when the lung disease begins to imply a disability or a lack of autonomy in the lives of the patients. . That sometimes forces them to request reductions in working hours, leave of absence, etc. with the consequent economic loss (salary at the moment and of his pension in the future by contributing less) and professional career.”
Conxi Grau,
member of the Advisory Group of the Lovexair Foundation, and president of AsmaMadrid.
“I consider it important to add the conditions that women experience when at the same time their facet as a patient with chronic respiratory disease is also added. That despite her crises, her relapses, her fight against the disease, she continues to be a caretaker of her children, of her elders, of her partner if the disease is also chronic, whether dependent or not, organizer and expert in housework; she barely exercising her profession, due to sick leave caused by the disease. Anecdotes... I could tell those that happen in her daily life, 365 days a year. If we stop, for the world”
Institutional message from Shane Fitch, President of the Lovexair Foundation
